Backstreet Boys Member AJ McLean Says Country Music Is In For A Surprise

Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean is ready to hop into the country music saddle.

The 40-year-old will release a new album with the boy-band soon, but on the ACM Awards red carpet on Sunday night, he revealed he's been working on a solo project for quite some time.

The past couple years have really opened his mind to country music, thanks to the BSB collaboration with Florida Georgia Line on the hit single "God, Your Mama and Me," as well as their episode of CMT Crossroads last year. And AJ continues to find inspiration in the "Nashville sound."

He told Entertainment Tonight, "Out of all genres, country is probably now one of my favorites. It's all about telling a story; every song is so relateable to anyone, but my goal is a little different. I want to come in and I want to disrupt country. I want to shift. I want to shake things up just like FGL did. So you guys are in for a treat."

Could we possibly see other BSB members follow his path to country?
