Say Yes to the Dress will tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in a 3-part special. The special, titled Say Yes to the Dress: In Sickness and In Health, will show viewers what it's like to plan a wedding in the middle of a global health crisis.
Like the series' regular episodes, the pandemic special will take viewers behind the scenes of the famed Kleinfeld Bridal as a few women search for the perfect wedding dress. These episodes, however, will reveal how the shopping experience changed with the new health and safety restrictions implement at the shop. Some of the changes include temperature checks, plexiglass separation between bridal dressing areas, and mandatory masks.
Another big change will be that the brides visiting the salon can only try on a limited number of dresses. Each gown will then be disinfected by the staff afterward. Each bride will only be allotted two guests per appointment, as well. If the brides' need more opinions on a dress, however, the salon will provide iPads so additional family and friends can participate virtually.
The former fashion director of Kleinfeld Bridal spoke with People about the upcoming special, saying: "2020 has been quite a year, and my heart breaks whenever I think about the brides whose wedding dreams have been dashed by the pandemic. With Say Yes to the Dress: In Sickness and In Health, we wanted to give some of those brides a glimmer of hope, and I feel like that’s exactly what we did by helping them say yes virtually!"
Say Yes to the Dress: In Sickness and in Health will premiere on Jauary 4 on Discovery+.
