Britney Spears' best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me, is officially going to be a movie thanks to Universal Pictures, filmmaker Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt, and Spears herself.

According to Page Six, Universal Pictures won the rights to the book on Thursday (August 1) following a "fierce, months-long auction." A handful of beloved celebs, including Reese Witherspoon and Brad Pitt, expressed interest in making the memoir a movie, but Universal Pictures won out in the end. In addition to book rights, the famed film production company also purchased the rights to Spears' entire music catalog.

The songstress will assist in the creation of the highly-anticipated film, and has been tasked with selecting the cast, including the actress that will play her!

The "Womanizer" hitmaker teased the "secret" project ahead of the exciting announcement, praising Platt for creating some of her favorite movies.

"Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned."

Platt has produced a slew of highly-acclaimed films including Legally Blonde and La La Land, to name only a few. Page Six mentioned that Sony, Netflix, Fox, Warner Bros., and Disney also bid on the rights to the memoir (which sold 2.5 million copies in the U.S. alone since its October 2023 release), but Universal ended up securing the project for an undisclosed "eight-figure sum."

Information regarding release date and official casting has yet to be unveiled as fans ready for The Woman In Me movie.
