We’ve all been on a flight with someone who has no idea how to behave, leaving other passengers frustrated, rolling their eyes, and posting photos of the offensive action on social media. That’s why one Redditor recently asked people to share the airplane etiquette rules that everyone should know. Nearly 3-thousand have come in so far, reminding us just how bad it can be up there.
- "It's not okay to fill public spaces with the noise pollution from scrolling through TikTok or whatever video content you seemingly can't live without."
- "Don't put your feet up on the armrests of the person in front of you. I really don't want to move my arm and touch the bottom of your foot."
- "Don't drape your long hair over the back of your seat and block my screen."
- "Please wear a mask if you're sick or coughing a lot. And wash or sanitize your hands. I don't want to get your sickness when I'm on vacation."
- "Standing an inch from the baggage conveyor isn't going to make your bag come faster. Leave room for people to get their stuff."
- "I'd be happy if people could just pretend like they've been in public before."
- "Keep your essential oil diffuser at your house. If one more person pulls out an oil diffuser and acts like they get to pick the smell of the flight, I'm going to lose my mind."
- "Get to your seat, throw your carry-on in the overhead, and sit down. It doesn't take as much time as it does if you're prepared to do these three things."
- "As a flight attendant, I wish passengers knew this: if you're going to get up to use the lavatory during beverage service, then be OKAY with waiting in the back until we are done. Please don't make us pull these 200-pound carts all the way back to let you get back to your seat."
- "Be kind to the flight attendants and listen to instructions."
- "Keep your d*mn shoes on."
- "Window seat gets the window. The aisle seat gets the aisle. The middle seat gets BOTH armrests."
- "Don't change your baby's diapers in the passenger area."
- "Sit in your assigned freakin' seat."
- "Don't allow your child to scream and bug other passengers without at least saying or doing SOMETHING about it. Yes, it's a child, but some discipline goes a long way."
- "Don't clip your toenails or fingernails."
