A woman by the name Chantal Melanson was enjoying a night out with her friend in Las Vegas with her friends at a country bar when a man named Austin Monfort introduced himself.
24 hours later, her life was about to change forever. He ended up saving her life at the Route 91 Harvest festival after one of the worst mass shootings that has ever happened.
She also said that she only went to the Vegas festival because a friend called a few weeks prior with an extra ticket. When the shooting happened, they thought it was fireworks. The couple was on the ground looking at each other and they remained on the ground when they realized the shots weren't stopping.
When everyone ran in different directions, Austin stayed with her and they ran together across the entire festival grounds stopping just a few times.Luckily the two and their friends escaped unharmed.
After they both returned safely to their homes, they continued to FaceTime and quickly fell in love.
In the weeks that followed, the two grew closer even though they were in a long distance relationship. The two got married last November but planned to return to Vegas for a wedding celebration this May with their friends and family.
Sadly, due to COIVD-19 the celebration has been postponed.
Chantal said "There was a reason we met when we did. We needed each other in his chaos."
After 18 months together, Austin proposed in Laguna Beach in March 2019.
