Lawmakers Want Newsom To Allow California Theme Parks To Reopen

A group of state legislators are asking Newsom to allow the theme parks to reopen. The group of 18 state senators and assembly members sent him a letter requesting they issue guidelines for parks like Disneyland, Universal Studios and Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Sea World San Diego and Legoland.

Their argument is that many indoor facilities are operating with safety measures and it's time that theme parks do the same. Around a week ago, Newsom promised that he would issue guidelines soon. The governor says that there are conversations happening with major amusement park operators.

California officials didn't issue guidance for theme parks since the color-coded four-tier system for tracking coronavirus trends. Disneyland has announced that once guidelines are released, the resort will work with the state and county toward a reopening date.
