This time of year, people tend to donate more money and volunteer to causes they care about, but that kindness and generosity isn’t just needed during the holiday season. It turns out, some places give more of their time and support year-round and a new report highlights where they are.
- WalletHub has just released their annual list of the Most Caring Cities in America.
- They compare the 100 largest U.S. cities on 38 key indicators of compassion in three main areas: Caring for the Community, Caring for the Vulnerable and Caring in the Workforce.
- Cities are ranked on factors including volunteer hours per capita, pet shelters per capita, adoption rates and the share of income donated to charity.
- The Most Caring City in America is Virginia Beach, Virginia, which is number one in Caring for the Community.
- San Francisco, 27th overall, is first for Caring for the Vulnerable, and Boston, third overall, is number one for Caring in the Workforce.
- At the bottom of the list is Birmingham, Alabama, making it the least caring city in the country. It comes in dead last for Caring for the Vulnerable and 97th for Caring in the Community.
