Hundreds of people were stuck on roadways when winter storms hit the middle of the country and the South over the last two weeks. It’s time to learn a lesson and prepare for that possibility yourself. The National Weather Service has a handy guide on building a vehicle emergency winter kit.
Here are the items you need:
- Cell phone and charger
- First aid kit
- Jumper cables
- Snow chains
- Flares
- Water and snacks
- Full tank of gas
- Flashlight
- Bag of sand or cat litter
- Warm clothes includes coat, boots and mittens along with other spare warm clothing
- Blanket
- Tow rope
- Shovel and or ice scraper
