Americans are spicing things up in kitchens across the country, according to research from Instacart. In honor of National Hot Sauce Day, which is tomorrow (January 22nd), they’re sharing data-driven insights, which show Americans clearly have a favorite brand.
- After analyzing their own purchase data, Instacart finds that Frank’s RedHot was the number one choice for hot sauce lovers in 29 states in 2024.
- But there are some regional faves as well. In parts of the South, people prefer Texas Pete, which is the top pick in the Carolinas and Virginia.
- But in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Arkansas, Louisiana brand is number one.
- The rest of the country is divided between Frank’s RedHot and Burman’s, except California, where they prefer Tapatio, New Mexico, where it’s 505 Southwestern and Hawaii, which goes for Tabasco.
- The spiciest state is New Mexico, which ordered the most hot sauce in 2024, at 31.9-ounces per customer.
- Alaska is second with 29.2-ounces per customer, followed by Colorado with 27.2-ounces per customer.
- And the least spicy state is Alabama, averaging just 16.6-ounces per customer.
