Fridays are the favorite day of the week for many of us, but there’s far less love for the first day of the work week. Mondays are actually the most disliked day of the week, according to two-thirds of respondents in a new survey. It finds that people have “a case of the Mondays” an average of 15 times a year.
The poll of 3-thousand football fans 21 and older who plan to watch the Super Bowl reveals that one Monday in particular is worse than others. For 41%, the day after the big game is one of the top three most despised Mondays of the year. That’s why more than half (55%) of fans wish that Monday was a national holiday.
- They have various reasons for thinking it should be a holiday, with half just not wanting to face the day after being up late, while 46% hate the thought of heading into work after a riveting game.
- But 36% share that the day signals the end of football season and 18% are disappointed they won’t get to see their favorite teams play until next season.
- For 71%, having “a case of the Mondays” after being up late on Sunday is a common experience, 60% say they’re likely to have one after the Super Bowl.
- But what is it about Mondays that make people feel down? A third (34%) of those surveyed say everything just feels slower and they also just feel sad about the weekend being over.
- Some admit they “feel drained” and find it hard to do their work, while others confess they “move in slow motion” until they’re off the clock on Mondays.
- While 26% confess they have a tough time getting through the beginning of the week, one in 10 admit they start “checking out” for the week as soon as Monday.
