"Sinners" Holds Strong, Wins The Box Office Again

“Sinners” ruled the North American box office once again, taking the number one spot this weekend. The Michael B. Jordan flick took in $45-million in its second weekend…a drop of just 6-percent from last week. That hold is, to be clear, very rare…and is seemingly coming from very solid word of mouth as the audience expands. For example...the first weekend audience was made up of a majority male audience, but this weekend women made up half the audience. Meanwhile in second place we’ve got the 20th anniversary re-release of “Star Wars Ep. III: Revenge of the Sith,” which took in $25.2-million. Ben Affleck's “The Accountant 2” debuted in third place with a take of $24.5-million. “A Minecraft Movie” fell to fourth place with a haul of $22.7-million…and it’s now taken in roughly $817-million around the world. Closing out the top five we’ve got horror movie “Until Dawn” debuting in fifth with $8-million.
