You probably don’t keep track of how many good days you have in an entire year, but new research crunches the numbers to come up with a total. It turns out, the average American experiences 252 good days a year. But folks in some states are lucky enough to get even more.
According to a survey of 5-thousand adults evenly split across all 50 states:
- Floridians enjoy the highest number of good days overall, averaging 276 annually.
- Georgia, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, and Oregon are next, with 264 good days each.
- But those in Connecticut, Kentucky, and Vermont are missing out, they only average 228 good days a year, the fewest in the country.
- The research finds that people can tell if they’ll have a good day or not by 8:30 a.m., on average.
- Almost half (46%) have a ritual or routine to try to make a regular day feel good and special.
- Food makes a big difference in the kind of day they’ll have, as 93% say they need nourishing food throughout the day for it to be a good one.
- Specifically, they want to eat high-protein (47%), low-sugar (31%) and nutrient-dense foods.
- Respondents’ favorite flavors to enjoy on a good day include coffee (50%), chocolate (49%), banana (34%), vanilla (30%) and caramel (25%).
- Having an optimistic outlook - seeing the bowl half-full - can also help unlock a good day (51%), along with laughing at the little things in life (50%) and spending quality time with family (50%).
- That’s good news for the 86% of those polled who report having a “bowl half full” mindset.
- Beyond good days, people say the most important thing for a happy life is good health and nutrition (49%), having strong relationships (48%) and a sense of purpose (48%).
