It’s not here yet, but fall is so close you can almost smell it in the air. While the season may not be as popular for vacations as summer, many Americans are planning leaf-peeping trips and other autumn getaways and Airbnb knows where people most want to travel in the season ahead.
The vacation rental company’s Fall Travel Trends report has just come out, revealing the most popular destinations this shoulder season.
- Want to take in the reds, yellows and oranges nature has to offer this season? Vermont is the place to be. According to Airbnb, it’s the top-rated destination in the country for fall foliage, based on guest reviews.
- New Hampshire comes in a close second, followed by New York, Ohio and Minnesota.
- It turns out, most travelers want to see those changing leaves, as 83% of survey respondents say fall foliage is important when deciding on a destination.
- Airbnb’s most wishlisted homes in these locations include a Wildewood A-Frame in Nelsonville, Ohio, and a Luxury Glass Tiny House in Warren, Vermont.
- Younger Americans are ready for a getaway, with Gen Z traveler searches up 26% for fall.
- Some are taking out their passports and planning longer international escapes in the season ahead, and Paris is the top trending fall destination for Gen Z.
- But they’re still budget-conscious, as 42% believe traveling in the fall is a great deal.
